Our plane arrived early so after clearing customs we had to look around for our intrepid leader, who was actually in a taxi on his way to the airport! So eventually Tony arrived and got the show on the road.
However, this plan was nearly in ruins as Tony had a very nasty case of food poisoning on the Saturday and spent most of the evening being violently ill - and it seems it was all down to a dodgy cheese roll that he ate on his flight from the UK to the Netherlands.
Apparently this illness has had some effect on his mind as he put us on a train and we went Den Haag Central. This was fine but we were supposed to be on a train to Den Haag HS, but this wasn't really his fault as the conductor on the train led us to believe we didn't have to change at Leiden. Still we got to see some extra sights and we were back on a train to Delft within 20 minutes.
For those of you who are feeling jealous of us all being in and Europen summer - well don't be - it has been pouring with rain ever since we arrived!
Delft or as it is better known - Deluge!
As you can see by the picture, we are certainly not soaking up the sunshine. On arriving at Delft station we went to the front of the station to get a taxi to the hotel - and there were no traxis. So our intrepid leader parked us all under a tram shelter whilke he braved the elements and went in search of transport. This is where Tony came in to his own, and returned with a fleet of three Mercedes Limosines! So we were all transported in style to the hotel.
Since then we have made good use of the showers and then we all walked in to Delft town centre for lunch, and a quick trip around the supermarket for supplies. This included a 50 Euro cent poncho to keep the rain out! So we are back at the hotel and having a rest before venturing out again tonight. The blog will be updated agin tonight so you can see all of our smiling faces!
